Hi jmcbee, I only have labview 8.5 installed, could you please resave in that version? I have to get 8.6 installed by our IS people......

Like I said, I'm new to LV
it works nicely when I copy my For Loop into your code, but not when I put your code into my VI. I'll check it out and report back. Thanks for the help so far, I really appreciate it.

Allright! Done, works and seems to perform nicely. Thanks everyone for the input. Hopefully one day I can be the solution, not the question in this forum.
I have more Q's I'll start another thread when I get to it......has to do with saving files and error proofing.
