LabVIEW 8.20

I just listened to a podcast and they mentioned LabVIEW 8.20.  Does anyone know when that is going to be released or is it released all ready?

A week before NI Week?

Probably a good time to scratch.

No I don't know anything you don't.

I think it is neat that they had a podcast from Cristina Rogers about OOP in LabVIEW 8.20 and replaced it a few hours later with one by Steve Rogers about the 20 year history of LabVIEW.  If you want to listen to Christina's cast (presumably pre-recorded for the next release), I have posted it in the LAVA forum.

Thanks Bob.  The podcast I thought I was going to listen to was to be by Steve Rogers and the 20 year history of LabVIEW but the content was about OOP in LabVIEW 8.20 with Christina.

I guess NI let the "cat out out of the bag" prematurely.

Does this mean that NI is actually going to implement real and native OOP in LabVIEW?!?!?Smiley Surprised

Well, that would be a welcome addition. I thought the sort-of OOP that was done with the Project thingy in LabVIEW 8 was simply kludgey.

That's been my biggest complaint about LabVIEW as a "real" programming language. Please, no flames. I know all about Open GOOP and the variants and have used them. In my current project I use a modified version of dqGOOP. Let's face it, it's just not the same as programming OO in C# or equivalent languages.

Of course there is now also a very mysterious (but empty) "8.2" folder at ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/labview/windows/runtime/ ..... 😮

What does it all mean????

If you go to ni.com/info and type in "labview8.20" there is an on-line press kit talking about LabVIEW 8.20

I swear I think they've got some intern set up whose job is to delete any reference to LabVIEW 8.2 from the NI web site as it comes up. I tried searching right after I saw your post, Brian, and came up with only 15 links, none of which referenced 8.2. I'll bet the intern is just continously searching all LabVIEW-related forums just to see if somebody finds something. Hmmmmmm.... wonder if the NSA is involved?Smiley Mad
