Allow management of network, date and time etc. in non-Silverlight web interface

Status: New

The new web interface offered when you install a system image to an RT target is very rudimentary, it offers almost none of the configuration options that we had in the Silverlight-based version. You cannot edit the network card settings, you cannot change the date and time etc. All it does is refer you to use NI Max, which kind of defeats the point of having access to basic config without the need for anything but the web browser.

Are there any plans of an update to the web interface any time soon?

Just to illustrate the two interfaces for those who have not seen the new one yet:

We went from this quite useful and nice looking GUI:
webbefore.PNG

to this 1990s (70s?) non-functional one:

webafter.PNG

Why? LabVIEW is for graphically oriented people...This is sad even for the text lovers 😉

I created a ticket support about it recently, they told me there is no plan in R&D to bring it back the moment, for us it is a great asset we have lost when upgrading crio

If I want to set up a serial port server from Moxa or Advantech e.g. I can do it all with any type of web browser. Even the tiniest of networked devices have such functionality today.

If I send a cRIO to a customer and they want to change its IP I used to be able to just ask them to point a web browser to its current IP. Now it is supposed to require NI Max or SystemLink, really? Let us go forward, not backwards here guys...

The nearest we are now to using a generic application to adjust the network settings is to connect with an SSH client (puTTY e.g.) and launch nirtcfg from bash (I always find it ironic that NI/LabVIEW, the programming equivalent to MacOS vs DOS now frequently sends  us users into bash..):

I do not want to send my customers on that path though, user unfriendly and too easy to mess thing up.

thanks, I know it already, and we noticed that one typo screw the file and only way after is ip reset with the button on the crio, so it is helpful, but very risquy
