How do I make the text labels in a tab control extend over more than one line? So that I can keep the number of rows to one and not use the silly arrows that appear if the text is too long.

Right click on the tab and select Properties.
Go to the Appearance tab.
Select "Allow multiple Rows"

Two ideas come to mind.
1) Use an image of the text and hide the text.
2) Hide the tabs a use a customized radio button to select the page.
