This has nothing to do with the casing. The sources are sorted by tabbing order.

I think the idea should actually be that we should have a ring which will allow us to sort by tabbing order or by alphabetical order.

The case comment was to emphasize that it should be case insensitive, not like the link to submenu of property nodes.

When would tabbing order be desired instead of sorted by name?

When you have a relatively small number of controls and their tabbing order makes sense. It's also helpful when you drop a new control and find it without effort because it's always at the end of the list.

The main thing that bugs me in the event structure is that when browsing the controls

ALL Clusters are by default fully EXPANDED !!!, and this everytime I want to add an event...

I have a lot of big clusters and it is a pain scrolling them through OR first collapse them again.

Personally I would prefer alphabetically sorted as well, especially if the list of controls does not

fit on my screen anymore and scrolling is required when searching for a specific control.

Another potential improvement for this is if there was a text box above the tree which could be used to filter the items shown in the tree. Essentially, it would let you search for specific controls by their labels. If the box is empty (default) the tree shows all the items. This can be very useful in VIs which have a lot of controls on the FP.

This is fairly similar in concept to this - https://decibel.ni.com/content/message/43606#43606
