Maybe a section on how to use the Search properly therefore avoiding the
...need to post a killer question....
to get the
.....killer reply
although look at all that interaction you will miss
(keeping the emoticons to a minimum..)

RayF,
You are right.
There's something about the search that needs to be improved, and it's been troubling me to put my finger on what it is that needs tp be improved.
I usually end up finding what I need to find using the search function. There are occasions where I am searching for something that I know I posted, yet I am not able to find it.... And I do find it annoying that it returns many hits from the same thread!
___________ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That's it!!! __________________^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That's what I hate about the search function... And I'm sure I've posted those 2 reasons before..
I get rather creative when trying to remember the words that I could have used somewhere in the text and use the appropriate filter to avoid getting too many hits. But often, the posts are submerged in a sea of hits that are often from a few threads. The result of a search can be both frustrating and annoying. So imagine a newbie that does not know that a thread has already been written on the subject and relies on the minimal search that is done when wording the question.. That person then assumes that the search was done and nothing was posted on the forum. How would they know??

Ray.R: I started using tagging to navigate through my own posts (in the community, not the forum yet) instead of relying on the search. However, this is only working with my own tag style.

Hi Schubert what is the actual use of tagging...? Is it only to navigate through our threads (or the threads that we tagged) or does it has any other use...
I really don't know...

Tagging does help and I do use it often.
But we should be able to easily find posts that we remember from years gone by... before the invention of tags.. 😉

Tags are what we make them.
There have been a number of discusions on Tags and I think I have been involved in the bulk of them so seraching the "Feedback on Forums" with the search strings "Ben Tag" will give you this list of threads.
Please feel free to browse those threads and BY ALL MEANS please post any thoughts you may have. I am always looking to make finding info easier.

To get an idea what you can do with tags poke around in your preferences for the tags settings to control how the tags are displayed. I like showing the counts so the most frequest tags are near the top.
This link will show my tag collection (so far).

If I listen to the politicians I should get Laura to edit the title on this thread to read
"Tips on how to post a killer destructive reply - Forum Team building"

Here is an example by Luciter that I liked.
