Issues signing in?

After multiple restarts and clearing of cookies, the only way I can repeatably get to log into the forums is to first go through http://zone.ni.com/dzhp/app/main and then select discussion forums.

The only Login that works for me is to delete the cookies, then navigate back to the Feedback on NI Discussion Forums page and click on the Sign In link, but even that is flakey.

If the idea of this was to be able to login to the NI Community or NI Forums and be logged into the other, then it doesn't work. You need to go back the drawing board.

I'll check back in a day or two to see if it's working properly because this is a waste of time.

I deleted cookies and all NI cached data.  When I logged in I got the same response as Ray Farmer posted above.

Jordan,

You are the one who hears about all this first.  I hope this start to a Monday morning does not ruin your week.

A side note: It seems as though every major and som eminor updates to the NI web pages and the Forum result in a lot of errors or at least unintended consequences.  Maybe you (and Lithium) need to figure a way to do some live beta testing before turning these mosters loose.

I also had the same issues as everybody else. Eventually managed to login using the same roundabout methods that others used. Bah.

EVERY time I see the "NI site is down for maintenance", dread fills my soul with the knowledge that more is broken than is actually fixed.

This should be sufficient for all of you who bookmarked the old log in to achieve a 1 click sign in.

This link does not work. I got the same error message Ray got.

Here's a step by step guide for those who want to log in correctly:

  1. Go to   http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/ni_cookie_mgr.cookies_display    and clear the cookies.
  2. Close the browser.
  3. Open the browser again and log in using your name and pass.
  4. Use this link to automatically log in from now on - http://sine.ni.com/niforum/niforum?requireLogin=False&forumDU=http://forums.ni.com/

It seems to work fine for me in the forums.

That doesn't work. The old link does still seem to work correctly:

http://sine.ni.com/niforum/niforum?requireLogin=False&forumDU=http://forums.ni.com/

In addition, the auto-login to the community does not seem to work correctly.

If I log into the forums, then go to the DevZone and click the NIWeek spotlight link it takes me to the blog post (where I appear to be signed in) -

https://decibel.ni.com/content/community/zone/blog/2012/02/07/check-out-the-niweek-2012-community.

Then, if I click the link in the blog post to go to the group, it's opened in a new tab and I'm not signed in:

Hello Forum users,

Single Sign On (explained here) is now live! A few users have reported having issues signing into the Forums. We had a major release this past weekend, which is the reason for these issues. Please delete your cookies, close your browser, reopen your browser, and navigate to the Forums. Cookies need to be deleted since we have redirected the sign in links to a new URL which needs a new cookie. This should resolve the issue.

Jordan

I'm sorry, Jordan, but to ask people to clear all their cookies is simply unacceptable. I have cookies from other logins for other sites. Those do not need to be deleted just because I need to deal with a change at the NI site.

To again emphasize my disappointment:

- Deleting all cookies is ridiculous as Saverio pointed out

- deleting NI cookies using your website is not possible for me as shown in message 8 - maybe others will have the same problem and so cannot follow tst's 4-step-procedure...

- deleting NI cookies manually is also ridiculous: it's not just "ni.com", who is feeding cookies - your server names range from "D" to "Z" ("decibel.ni.com" to "zone.ni.com" with a lot more names in between) How should I find them all in a list of hundreds of cookies and how can I be sure to kill the correct ones?

This forum update surely went the wrong way...

Best regards,
GerdW

step 3 doesn't work for me  because all I get is the appearance of being signed in but I'm not.

I have to actually be on the Feedback page. then click on the Sign In which takes me to the Login page, which then takes me to the NI Community page which displays the error I mentioned before. Then I navigate back to the Feedback page and I'm Signed in. I know this because now it says Sign Out.

The "Sign In" link at the top does not work for me either, even after deleting cookies. Thanks for your link tst. It's the only way I seem to be able to log in. It was simple before, now it's a pain.

How about reverting to the old sign on, and fix the problems before re-instating the new "improved" version?
