What's your lookout version? You can use the built-in S7 driver to make the connection, but it needs interface card. If it's 6.2 or 6.5, better choice is to use NI OPC Server.

How much do you know about lookout? If you start from beginning, I suggest you to learn from the tutorial first.

thank you Ryan.S,

My lookout version is 6.0, what interface card do you mean because i have a cp5611a2 pci card, can i use this one to get all the information form the plc´s?...i really need some info of configuration of hardware and how to get the data.

Im recently checking tutorials and i understand the software, iam with troubles in the communication link between plc and software lookout, one question: the ni opc server you mentioned is included in the software lookout? or is another software i need to purchase?

thanks for the link!

Lookout S7 driver needs HMI Adapter, or the interface card from Applicom. It doesn't support the 5611. Lookout has the Profibus driver, but also needs 3rd party interface card, such as Applicom.

The driver in Lookout is really old, so we usually recommend the NI OPC Server. The NI OPC Server is shipped by lookout 6.2 or higher. It supports TCP/IP Ethernet through CP343 module and MPI protocol through MPI PC Adapter, but not the 5611 profibus card either...

Here is the link of NI OPC Server https://www.ni.com/en/support/downloads/software-products/download.opc-servers.html You can download the evaluation version.

Hello,

I intend to buy an CP343-1 module for my S7-314C/2DP PLC. I use Lookout 6.6 with the integrated NI-OPC server. So, if I understood correctly the obove repley, I can read the S7 Data with Lookout over the NI-OPC-Server if I have an CP343 module. My question is, do I need any other hardware implemented in my PC like an additional ethernet-card as CP1628, or can the OPC-Server communicate to the CP343 by connecting th CP343 directely to the PC-intergrated ethernet port?

Thanks for any additional information.

Claude

Hello,

I have tested now the connection between the NI-OPC-Server and S7-314C with the module CP343-1-Lean. It is working very well. The PC is connected directely via the ethernet Port to the CP343 Port. The correct driver is integrated in the OPC-server.

Regards

Claude
