To answer I'll relate my Waveform data type constant story.
When I met Jeff K (the Father of LabVIEW) the first time I eventually asked him "Why can't we create a constant on the diagram for the WF data type?" thinking I would learn something new about the nature of the WF data type that prevented it from being a constant. His answer was "I don't know. It must be an over-sight." The next version of LV had WF constants.
I suspect this is another one of those things that few people noticed or asked for.
Consider posting on the ideas forum, in theory this is our voice for new features if we dont hwve the opprotunity to talking to jeff K directly (havent pulled this off myself).
