event node on graph

I have a waveform graph, which is part of a very complex program (in other words, I can't replace it with something else). One of our customers would like to see an 'event node' (a small mark or thin vertical line) appear on the graph whenever acertain condition is met (say a button on the screen, for example). How should I go about doing this?

Graphs support cursors.

Right click and show cursor palette.

While mouse is on Graph, right click, under "visible items", select "graph palette" & "cursor legends".
