File on server

Hi

I have a file on a server called test.exe,say. The directory structure on the server is as follows:

                                                               -test

                                                                        -dir1

                                                                        -dir2

I am having problems in accessing the data from a web browser. I think the main problem is what paths do I use to access the data from test.exe in a web brower?

Note: I am using FTP.

Thank you and smile.Upgrade your email with 1000's of emoticon icons

You seem to be using a web browser for ftp, so I don't quite understand what all this has to do with LabVIEW. 😉

Using internet explorer you can access any file via ftp using simple paths, e.g.:

ftp://myserver.mydomain.com/test/dir1/test1.dat

If the server is passworded, you can use:

ftp://username:password@myserver.mydomain.com/test/dir1/test1.dat

What error messages do you get?

Getting data from an ftp server is hopefully a little bit easier than posting here succesfully! 😄

Seems you have a couple of problems:

  1. Delete the "\" after ftp:
  2. Try to use a username that does not contain an "@". Since "@" is a special symbol to seperate "user / pass" from the hostname in the link, the presence of the @ inside the username will probably confuse the parser. (I don't know if there is an easy way to escape that, maybe there is.)
  3. The server requires login and does not allow anonymous ftp, maybe you can login manually and save username/password in your password cache and then get the file without the username/password in the line.
  4. I was able to donwload the file with the credentials shown in the attached image. Once testing is over I urge you to immediately change your password, since it is now public.

Here's the commandline I used. I entered username and password when it propted me

ftp://members.iinet.net.au/ECOTUD/MarioSmith/MarioSmith.bmp
