DataSocket Server Manager broken LV2023Q3

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

DataSocker Server Manager interface is broken in LV2023 Q3.

The screenshot is Win11.

Can I configure the Server without the interface?
I need to increase the number of allowed connections.

on a different machine (Win10) I can hardly choose the options, I have to drag them somehow in order to choose them.

This problem has been reported to LabVIEW R&D as Bug 1794135. The display issues appear to only happen on some machines, and the cause has not yet been identified. The only known workaround at this time is to configure the server on a machine where the DataSocket Server Manager displays properly, use the 'Export Settings' menu item, then go to the machine with the display issues and use 'Import Settings' to import the settings that were configured on the good machine.

Unfortunately I have no success in importing the settings from a different pc. To verify I exported a cfg without the sample variables. After importing on a pc with broken interface, the sample variables are still there.

I did the following procedure.

PC with working UI (good machine): verify that sample variables are removed via diagnostics, stopped server, exported settings from manager -> 2 files are generated? this seems wrong.

PC with broken UI: stopped server, imported settings file 1,startet server, diagnostics show samples variables.

same with settings file 2

Since the UI is broken I can't see what I am importing, but something is wrong here.

Finally, for me worked bypassing the data socket manager and replacing the config directly in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\DataSocket\cwdssini.dss with the config that gets named when exporting from the (good machine). Maybe it works also with the second one, didn't test it.

I'm glad you found a workaround. I will (again) point R&D to this thread, as I had expected the export/import to work despite the UI display issues.
