Data logging rate

Solved!
Go to solution

I am a complete noobie and trying to record thermocouple data using Signal Express 2012.  I can get the data to record and export to a text file, but it is recording at 1.1 seconds.  I would like to change it to once every second, but don't see that option anywhere on the record options.  Thanks for any help!

Hi Tom,

maybe you should ask in the SignalExpress forum?

In your configuration tab you should see Sample Rate in the lower right corner.  This is what determines how often to collect assuming your set to 1 Sample On Demand.  If the sample rate is set to faster than 1.1 seconds then your hardware may be the limiting factor.

Oh yeah, sorry didn't see that forum at first.  Thanks.

Thanks, but I'm guessing that doesn't apply to Signal Express since I don't see a configuration tab anywhere.  I'll post in the correct forum.  Thanks!

I am using Signal Express 2012.  My sample rate was defaulted to 100mSec and it collected that fast when connected to my USB-6351.

How did you get that window?  I'm using version 6.0.0 and when I click on Recording Options tab I can change signal selection, start stop conditions, events, etc. but I don't see where to change the rate.  Thanks:-)

Hi tbsmith,

at first you post in the wrong forum, now you say you're using an old version of SignalExpress - which you should have told right in the beginning...

And NI doesn't know about some SignalExpress 6.0.0 as is shown here...

Best regards,
GerdW

6.0.0 is the current version of Signal Express 2012 which is what I have.

I just opened SE, selected Aquire Signals > DAQmx Aquire > Analog Input > Temperature > Thermocouple.  Then I selected a channel from my 6351 and the Configuration tab popped up like in the picture I posted.

If you're new to SE open the manual:  Help > Getting Started With...  It's a quick doc (50 pgs.) but it explains everything quite well.

Thanks NIquist, that did it!  Also good to know there is a manual included in the help file.  Appreciate the help in getting me going!
