I made the mistake of opening and saving a vi that was meant for v7.1, using 8.2.1. I can only backward save to LV 8.0. Can someone help me to save from 8.0 back to 7.1?

If there is compatibility issues, please just get rid of the file saving VIs. Everything else should flow right through.

Hi,

To convert from 8.0 to 7.1 just open your file in 8.0 then from file menu, select save for previous version select 7.1 version and click save.

Here are your VI's.

I am betting that he has 7.1 and 8.2, but does not have LV 8.0 to make that conversion in between.

Of course I guess that he hasn't the 8.0 version this is why I joined the vi's in 7.1, it may be a little bit redundant but it is just a reminder, I'm here for that

Ravens Fan and Steve: Thanks for your help. Yes, you've guessed it right, on my system there is no 8.0, only 7.1, 8.2.1, 8.5.1, and 8.6 installed. That is why I had to trouble the forum. A couple of LV annoyances/suggestions:

1. What is a way that we can make sure that a version 7.1 file does not get opened by higher versions, without a warning? It seems to me that the typical LV release is about a year, and many of us still play with some legacy software that needs to maintain its previous configuration/LV versions.

2. Is there an easier way to install a “middle” release without uninstalling the later versions? For instance, we do have LV 8.0 disk. But it would require me to uninstall Versions 8.2.1, 8.5.1, and 8.6, before reinstalling 8.0 and everything that I uninstalled. Too tedious and inefficient.  Albeit, this seems to be our IT person’s fault for not managing the versions and installing correctly. Still, it would have been nice  to avoid these kind of issues  and halt productivity.

Hello everyone!!

I am really interested in Santiago's question about installing old version Labview in PCs with already installed newer ones. So do we have to remove the newer Labview and then reinstall it?

Besides, I have Labview 8.6 and the number of installation is limited. (I think we can install it 3 times). So if I remove Labview 8.6 of my computer, install Labview 7.1 and reinstalled Labview 8.6 once again in the same computer, will I waste another installation license?

I can't comment on the order of installation.

But I do know that you aren't wasting an installation by reinstalling LV 8.6.  The 3 licenses are based on having it on 3 different computers at a time (with only the single register user actually using them).  Taking it off a computer and putting it back on will not count against you as another license.

Also, having LV 7.1 and LV 8.6 on the same PC only counts as a single license use assuming you are using the same license service number for both installations.
