3D Graph Render Window Programmatically

I wonder if there is progress on this (very old) topic.

The method described by pobrepablo in the previous post works for me, but produces a "scene window" which is in my application faster than the original graph, but still about a factor of 4 slower than the "true" render window, which I can get by popping it up from the 3D graph context menu. Even with Auto-Redraw set to "true". Any other tricks?
