Opens block diagram with Ctrl+E code is running and custom or no menu bar

Status: New

When running source code and you want to debug, you cannot get to the block diagram if it was not already open before running the program and you do not have the standard menu bar.  This seems to be more of an issue with large programs where I have many screens.  I'll be testing the software and find a problem deep into the program, but to get to the code I have to exit back to the main screen, stop the program, find the sub-vi with the bug, open it's block diagram, and then go back and re-run the program from the start to re-create the problem and start diagnosing.  It would be a big time saver for me if the Ctrl+E shortcut during worked during run-time on screens where I'm not using the standard menu bar.

You might have used that shortcut in the software at hand for other tasks so a better solution would be to be able to Ctrl-click the VI in the project window.

The solution today (unless you've made yourself a tool for the job) is to create a VI, place the VI you want to open the block diagram of on that VI's diagram and then Ctrl-click on the VI icon....it should really be possible to skip most of those steps by making it available from the project window.

I agree with the suggestion. My workaround is a tiny bit simpler than Mads. I open the VI Hierarchy, and control-doubleclick the vi to get to the block diagram.

Also, give Kudos here.

And, check this related idea out, too.
