I'm sure this has happened to many of you plenty of times, I just thought it was kind of funny.
How many times per day does this happen to everyone:
You are browsing the forums, looking for interesting threads.
Suddenly, one catches your attention, and you think, "Aha! I know just how to answer this one".
You whip out LabVIEW and draw up a quick example VI.
You type a thorough explination, along with embedding an image of your example code.
You press 'submit' and wait until the thread refreshes so you can admire your work .... only to find out that someone posted the answer 1 min before you.

That's why you're supposed to have all of the examples to all possible questions pre-written and stored on your hard drive so you don't have to waste time making them. You're also supposed to have all of the answers pre-written and saved on your hard drive so you don't have to waste time typing them in.
Isn't it obvious?

I was just going to answer.... Luckily I noticed in the last second that smercurio beat me to it. 😄
There is thus no longer a need to answer and I will definitely not do so.

Wow, that would be a lot of examples! How would you find the one you need so fast? Do you use the LabVIEW Example Finder, or have you written your very own LabVIEW based search engine !?

Cory,
happened to me too, 🙂
I think it will happen more to the quite obvious questions.... (Why it run with hyperterminal and not with LabVIEW? \r\n! or How to do this string/array manipulation?)
Workaround(?): Only answer questions older than 1+x hours. I think that will get you out of competition 😉
I don't know if it's easily done, however it would be interesting to see a statistic of how often than might have happened.
Possible indicators: Time difference of the first two answers less than 10+? Minutes ,
additional filters: both including an attachment / link , more than ??? Characters, answers within 1 hour
PS: I have to train this spell checker;-)

unknown LabVIEW suggestion: Labile ![]()

Cory,
What makes me laugh the hardest is when I consider the reaction of the original poster when they get pounded with suggestions and ideas from every corner of the globe in rapid succession.

... and they are all making the same recomendations! I have been trying to avoid those situations lately but I have to confess I do grab for "the low hanging fruit" durring my mid-day breaks and fell embarased that I may have stolen someone else's oppertunity to reply. I still think a reply with an embedded image is better than an "all words' version posted minutes earlier. But answering only question that nobody else replies to can be a very lonely buisness. So lets revel in the fact that we are of one LV mind altough seperated by distance. I'm not a linguist or such but it seems that the word "Community" should have something to do with "common" and "unity" and what better way of demonstrating that than a post avalanche with a common theme.
Take care,
Ben
