Why are there so many grumpy old men on these boards? You know, you have the right to remain silent, just not the will. How many of these guys with a lot of posts are simply stating the obvious, grouching, pointing out other posts from years ago that may or may not answet there question. If you have nothing positive to say, just don't answer. Feel free to respond, you know you will.
Cool I get to claim that title! maybe add it to my brag list???
I can't speak for all but I'll give you the answer that applies to me.
I have been poking at things that people call computer for almost 40 years (if you count that thing that I built that my high-school teacher thought was a computer) and I have seen and experieinced a lot along the way. I believe my experience is worth something. I also have to face the fact that I am human and some day will have to pass from this world. I would very much like to be able to pass along eveything I know to others who can in turn pass on the knowlege to the next generation. I have recieved subtle feedback indicating that my efforst are not falling on deaf ears so I believe that I have found in this forum a place where I can pass on my knowlege.
So that is why I am here, now it my turn!
Why are you here?

Very well said Ben. You grumpy old Teddy Bear!
😉
I didn't think I was feel old or grumpy this morning.
Had a good night sleep.

Just my tuppence worth...
If the folk who post here are grumpy or old or both then long live grumpiness and old age!
Between them they've unwittingly taught me an awful lot over the last 5 or so years. I've almost never had to post a question as the answers were already there.
So heres a quick thanks to them (grumpy or otherwise!)
Altenbach, Ben, Darren, Tst, Denis Knutson, smercurio, rolfk (to name a few by name - there are many more which aren't coming immediately to mind) and everyone else - thank you for your time and effort.

I thought the first movie was actually pretty decent, but that's probably because I like to watch Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. I thought Walter Matthau was superb in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. As far as the sequel, Grumpier Old Men... well... not so good. The only good thing that movie had going for it was Sophia Loren. Aaaaahhh.... Sophia Loren. Zowie!! One of the few things that makes me proud to me Italian!
I'm sorry, were we talking about something else?

Other boards I frequent might answer this post with something like, "Obvious troll is obvious."
It's true that sometimes vague or very simple problems appear to get a bit of a brush-off sometimes. But I see a lot more of that on other boards than on this one. There seems to be the breadth of experience and a willingness to help that combines well to come up with answers for just about every problem. Champions and gurus often chime in with excellent solutions for more difficult problems. While board enthusiasts with perhaps a little less experience in LabVIEW tend to gravitate to perhaps simpler posted questions.
For my 2 cents, this is one of the better/more interesting communities out there.

Well, it was basically a word-for-word rehash of the first, with the dialog shifted to other characters, so you shouldn't have had any problems with it. 😉
Besides, it also had Daryl Hannah and Kevin Pollak, who I like, as well as the grandfather, who was the funny one in both movies.
I thought Walter Matthau was superb in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.
Can't disagree. I haven't seen the new one, but I doubt Denzel Washington can pull it off the same way.

Seven degrees of freedom...
My father grew-up in New Rochelle, next door to Pelham.
The guy that did the actual "taking" was a sailor that had served on the USS Detroit AOE-4 the same ship I served on.
Never saw the movie, but I'm still grumpy.

Make that FOURpence! I couldn't have put it better.
I've been wiring since LV4 and I've asked questions here maybe 5 times. I've gotten answers here maybe 500 times. Figure it out.
There are some VERY simple rules:
1. Search for an answer and make an effort yourself before you ask.
2. Don't let the question be more difficult to figure out than the answer. (If you can't explain it fully, just post the code or a screenshot)
3. Be patient and polite. Remember that YOU are the one asking for (free) help.
4. Avoid "textspeak" ('OMG! im ROFLMAO' just serves to make you appear immature and lazy. No professional adult will ever take you seriously (Ya Rly!).
5. Kudos, accepting a solution or a quick note back to say thanks should be considered a no-brainer.
Honestly, compared to other forums I frequent this place is a veritable Sunday School. There aren't even any sticky threads explaining the rules. It's ironic to me that anyone would need to whine about this place when it's such a goldmine of free, friendly help.
