Getting to know more about ...

An irish english teacher.  Hmm.  When I arrived in Switzerland and started learning german, I realised how badly I'd learned english in school.  OK, I could read and write, that's not the problem (Ireland has one of the highest literacy rates in the world - or had at least).  The practice was fine, but the theory was terrible ("Konjunktiv" and so on had me totally confused.  I ended up learning by examples).

Ray, you're correct, Irish english is a bit different from english english (which is again different from american english).  Subtelties, granted, but the difference is definitely there.  Swiss english is slowly becoming a reality.  Unable to decide what second language should be taught in school (french, german, italian or RetoRomänsch (sp?)) they have started thinking of teaching english.

Speaking of languages, I'd love to be able to speak Irish (not irish english, Irish - Gaeilge).  Along the lines of Bechtho, maybe I'll find an english irish teacher...:D

Shane.

Damp yes. This cavern is still alive and growing. Hardly cold. The humidity is so high it is border-line stiffling.

We stopped here on the way to NI Week 2005.

Here is the offical plaque.

And now that I have figured out how to post images, here is a picture from the LV Champions Dinner.

I did my best with names. If I am wrong or missed anyone either fix this or let me know.
