When working in DIAdem SCRIPT, it is often necessary to work on more than one file at once. The way this is implemented at the moment is with tabs:

script before.png

However, it can be quite tedious to switch back and forth between 2 scripts for things like copy/pasting, comparing code or simply editing code on 2 files concurrently.

My suggestion would be for a SCRIPT editor with split screen functionality, roughly like this:

script after.png

With many users working with widescreens today, this would better make use of screen real-estate.

It's very common you need to do a presentation with several information and if you can put a video playing a synchronized video, map, audio and data graphs, like DIAdem VIEW do, your presentation will be cause a excellent impression. To do this today you need a capture screen toll, If DIAdem have a native tool to do this it would be great.

I'd like to propose a few improvements to the zoom functionality in DIAdem VIEW that are sorely missing usability-wise:

  1. Vertical band zoom: This would allow one to zoom in on a specific part of the y axis without touching the x axis. We have the horizontal, why not vertical?
  2. Sticky zoom button: When I want to zoom in to a specific part of a graph in successive steps, I have to click on the zoom button each time. It would be great to be able to click on it once to activate the zoom tool and to be able to zoom several times. (Not sure what the best mechanism is, but maybe a click with modifier key? Ctrl+click on zoom button keeps it active?)
  3. Zoom stack with undo: Following on from point 2, when I zoom in in successive steps, it would be nice to be able to go back to the previous zoom level. Right now I can only do a generic zoom out or cancel all zooming. It could simply be an extra button in the zoom palette that goes back up one level in the zoom stack (like an undo. It could even be integrated into a more generic undo functionality if it ever comes about.)

I think that for points 2 and 3 there are several ways this could be done. I think the focus should be on usability. The user needs to be able to navigate the data as quickly and as efficiently as possible and the current zoom implementation is clearly impractical for many users.

Rather than a channel that has a "fixed" value (numeric or string), this new "calculation channel" type would be a function of other channels.  Currently, if Channel3 = Channel1 + Channel2, and then I change the values for either Channel1 or Channel2, I have to re-execute the calculation

ChnCalculate("Ch(""Channel3"") = Ch(""Channel1"") + Ch(""Channel2"")")

Now, if there was a "calculation channel" where I could define Channel 3 as "Channel1 + Channel2", I wouldn't need to perform this re-execution!

Another way to explain is to have a channel that works like Excel calculation cells.  The cell calculation stays the same, and when the input cells change, the result cell is automatically updated.

I'm not sure if I explained this well, please ask for clarification if necessary.

Hello everybody,
My suggestion concern the SCRIPT tab. I think that it is necessary to implement a real automatic indentation function as you can find in most of Integrated Development Environment.
Indeed, when you write a VBS code, you have to structure your code manually while DIAdem could structure it automatically.
For instance, after an "if" and until "end if" DIAdem could insert a tabulation.

Thomas77,

Hello.

I have a customer who would like to use 3D Axis systems on VIEW section.

This function is for Report section.

As you can see below.DIAdem_Report.png

He would like to realize this function on VIEW section as well.

I wish this function would be made for VIEW section as well.

As the title says, DIAdem should have the capability to draw simple pie charts in the report section.

It should be possible to use the code completion functionality for classes one has written, even when the class is in another VBS file and included by “ScriptInclude”. Now that competion feature works only if the class is defined within the same VBS file as one writes the code which uses this class. That would make the developers live much easier, I am sure I am not the only one who writes code which is distributed over several files Smiley Wink

Hello,

I checked the DIAdem hepl and saw that the time value converted in text only allows 4 digits for the fraction of a second.

But how can you display datetime in text for more precise values.

For example, if i acquire on a real time target, analog inputs data at 1MHz, all samples are more precisely time stamped than the best text value that you can display.

It would be very convenient to display time stamp like that : 06/19/2013 15:37:50.12345678

instead of that : 06/19/2013 15:37:50.0005

Thanks  !

Best Regards

CFOE

Sometimes you want to move an area around, and the only way right now is to re-create an area which is quite inefficient.

It would be nice to have a linked X-Axis with different values as a part of the same Report plot.

For example, If I wanted to plot the same data set against T and 1/T.

Even if two sets of X-Axes were allowed, at least I could create two data series, put them each on a different axis, and set the bounds to match correctly.

it is not possible to see which values are in an array.

on normal variables i can follow what happend while debuging the script.

it yould be great to show whats going on with my array.

display like an excel, or in first step like (22.5; 21; 99; ...) when you turn you mouse over the variable

All,

I am currently trying to use the new mapping feature in DIAdem 2010 to create a map of a drive route.  I want the map to contain a "bread crumb" trail of the route.  I also need the ability to change the each Lattitude/Longitude point to a specific color depending on another channel of data.  I have a report that does a similar task but I use MapPoint and Labview to create the map and then export it as an image and use DIAdem to grab the image and attach it into the report.  I thought I might be able to leverage the DIAdem 2010 mapping feature if possible.

I have attached a map of what I am trying to do in the DIAdem forums at the following location.

My idea is to add the capability of word highlighting in scripts, much like most other programmers editors, this facilitates easy searching throughout a script and is an alternate way of finding a search match other than repeated F3 presses.

Word Highlight

It would be great to be able to make a link between different pages in a DIAdem report, and have those links carry over into a PDF version of the report. For example, if I had a very large report, it might be useful to be able to create a Table of Contents with links to the different sections of the report.

Currently, the PDF creation process will create bookmarks for the pages, but a link within the document might be easier to use when examining the report.

I was fiddling with some DIADem Scripts and manage to crash DIADem twice, unfortunatly my VIEW, REPORTS and SCRIPTS weren't auto-saved.

That is kinda bad, so please add an autosave option.

I would like active hyperlinks to be allowed in REPORT layouts.  For example: http://www.ni.com/diadem/.  Clicking on this link (in the REPORT layout) would result in the user's default internet browser to open to the link.

This idea is borrowed from other programmers editors where you can select a sub-routine name or function name and then right click on this name to jump to where it is defined. The path to search for could be based on the currently open scripts within Diadem Script editor or it could be extended to all user commands currently loaded.

Goto Defined

Having a similar conditional formatting functionality as Excel would help a lot of people transition to DIAdem.

It was nice to have a conditional breakpoint, so only if a variable reaches a value

the executions stops and i can continue with debugging.

Thanks a lot.
