Project Title: A Vision Controlled Robotic System
List all parts (hardware, software, etc.) you used to design and complete your project:
NI USB-6009 for output control of pneumatic valves and pistons (8)
Axis ethernet video camera to capture video images (30 FPS)
NI LabVIEW software
Sony Play Station 3 and Guitar Hero software and guitar
Describe the challenge your project is trying to solve.
How to capture and filter video images in real time to control
the outputs of a system. To have the system automatically play
the Guitar Hero video game in both the stand alone and head-to-head
challenge modes.
Describe how you addressed the challenge through your project.
We began by getting the Guitar to play manually in LabVIEW and
then added the Axis camera to the system. Most of our efforts
have been spent in learning how to filter the video images to eliminate
unwanted and unnecessary information contained in the video images.
Once the basics were understood we have spent time fine-tuning the
system to improve the system's performance.
