Parallel and multiplex

I have a PXI-6289 DAQ card installed in a PXI/SCXI combo chassis.
I want to use this to control two SCXI-1125 in parallel mode in a different chassis (SCXI-1001 chassis) and in the same time
to control 3 SCXI-1166s in the combo chassis in multiplexing mode.
Will this setup work?

No, a DAQ card can be configured to acquire from SCXI modules in either parallel or multiplexed mode.

But not both modes at same time

In parallel mode it works out to be one DAQ device per Module you are communicating with. Thats the trade off and why multiplex mode is a good option to go for if true simultaneous sampling is not required.

yes. This was what i heard from the NI engineers.

But it seems my set up works fine.
It acquires signals from SCXI-1125 in parallel mode which are in SCXI-1001,
and at the same time can control the switch modules  in PXI-1052 chassis.
Can you tell me why this works?
Do you see any problems with operation in this set-up?

I remember reading that SCXI switch modules are controlled by using DIO lines of your DAQ card in a multiplexed mode

Some DIO lines on DAQ card will be reserved for this purpose

I could not find the relevant documentation

If anybody has any support mateial for this, can you please post it??

The PXI-6289 should be able to control both the 1166's in the PXI/SCXI combo chassis and both the 1125's in parallel mode.  This KB explains you can control both cards using serial communication through the backplane and a card in parallel.  In this case, because the PXI-6289 can control 1125's in parallel mode because it has 16 digital control lines, one through each connector.

I hope that helps!
