RIO Evaluation Kit with sbRIO-9636 and LabVIEW 2016

Hi all,

I am having some trouble to use an old LabVIEW RIO Evaluation Kit based on the sbRIO-9636 with LabVIEW 2016; I installed the software coming with the kit on a Windows 10 PC.

The Xilinx 13.4 compilation tools included in the installation are correctly listed as registered capability in the Jobs box of the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Worker 2016, as well as the Vivado 2015.4 already installed with the LabVIEW 2016 FPGA Module; however if I try to compile with the local server the starter project of the kit I always receive the error message "LabVIEW FPGA:  The compile worker cannot perform the compilation. The compile worker may be configured incorrectly for this compilation or it may be in an error state.", but the compile worker is running with status "connected to server". I read somewhere on the NI website that the compile worker should automatically select the right compilation tool between the registered ones; is it true? What can I do to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Regards

P.S.: if I use the 30 days evaluation NI cloud compilation service (I have an active SSP), the compilation goes well; from the compilation report I see that the compilation tools used is the ISE v14.7 (the last one available fot the Spartan-6 family of FPGA on which the sbRIO-9636 is based).

Hello Frada,

seems that you've not installed the correct version of the xilinx tool.

As you can see in the following document you have to install the xilinx ISE 11.5: https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/compatibility/19/compatibility-between-xilinx-compilatio...

Hi Lamber,

thank you for taking the time to answer my question; indeed I saw the document you linked but it lists the minimum versions of the Xilinx compilation tools one should install to support the FPGA on his/her RIO board. In my case it is ISE 11.5 but if I download and install it independently from the Xilinx website the setup goes wrong for an incompatibility with Windows 10. Moreover, if I try to install the latest available version of ISE (14.7), the setup goes well but compilation tools doen't integrate with LabVIEW 2016 (the LabVIEW FPGA Compile Worker 2016 doesn't list it at all). If I install the support software included with the RIO Evaluation Kit, the ISE version installed is the 13.4, it appears on the Compile Worker 2016 window but whenever I try to compile any of the examples coming with the kit, I always receive the error reported in my original post.

Until now I took advantage of the NI online compilation service but my SSP subscription will expire soon.

I'm having the same problem; what can I use for that board that's compatible with Windows 10?

Flarn, I highly recommend cloud compiling. It's free if you have SSP. Alternatively, if push came to shove, maybe you can run a compile server in a virtual machine.

Thanks, but I don't have SSP.
