How to get out of Safe Mode on my cRio-9076 after I checked "Safe Mode" in the MAX ?

Hi,

I wonder if anyone tried checking "Safe Mode" on the "Controller Settings" tab within the MAX. I did, rebooted and find now all my checkboxes grayed out in this tab, with below it the message : “Could not read or write settings on this device”.

For the rest I can still communicate in the MAX with the cRio-9076, only the System State remains "Connected – Safe Mode (User Directed)".

Resetting with the button (yes, also 5 sec) and even power off/on didn’t change this anymore.

Anyone have ideas how to get going again ?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Hi Peter!

What MAX version do you have? Is it possible to update it to the latest version since there are some unexpected behaviour with the older version 4.6 for example.

Also, you can check if it helps to open some ports that it is required for NI softwares: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/CEF5A3568A5DA71D8625732800520EA1?OpenDocument

Normally if you press the CRIO-9076 reset-button for 5 seconds, it will boot to safe-mode. Then you can change IP address and Controller Settings back to normal mode. If the Controller Settings are grayed out that could also mean that you have different softwares installed. Please try those things out.

I had the same symptoms (startup options greyed out), so I disabled my Windows 7 Firewalls and restarted MAX. The result was that the startup option stopped being greyed out and allowed me to change them.

Thanks

I had the exact same symptoms and disabling the windows firewall did work. I tried to add NI MAX to my windows firewall exceptions but it told me it was already added. Does anybody know if there's another program that NI MAX uses for the start up options that i need to add to the firewall exceptions?
