What is the best way to lock a PCI-6230 card to an external 10MHz reference?

Hello Will,

What is it exactly that you would like to "lock"? Are you looking at synchronisation? What are you trying to achieve?

Is this in relation to AI, AO, or DIO?

Give us a bit more information on what you need to achieve and we will be able to help.

Kind Regards,

We are designing a system that has a master 10MHz reference signal which sychronises LO signals and transmit/receive signals. (this is a 1dBm, 50ohm signal) The only item which currently is not locked to this master source is the processing cards. The analog input signals are locked to the source, but the cards themselves are not and we would prefer them to be. Looking through the PCI-6230 it seems that there is some possibilty of using the RTSI interface, but this leads to some interface concerns, both mechanically and electrically. If there was sopme way of configuring one of the analog inputs to allow sychronisation to this 10MHz signal this would be benifical for us.

Hello Will,

I apologise for not getting back to you sooner, is this still an issue?

If I understand what you want to achieve correctly, then you can connect your master reference to one of the PFI lines on the card, and then use the DAQmx Timing function where you specify that PFI line as your Source.

The RTSI bus you mentioned has to do with synchronisation between two NI cards, is this what you have?

I hope this helps a little, let me know your thoughts.
