datasocket programming in labview

I am unable to decide the right choice between TCP/IP or socket programming in labview 7.1 to communicate with the pc's in a LAN.give me some simple example to do this.

Hi,

Datasocket is built upon TCP/IP technology so its easier to use because you don't have to worry about TCP/IP level programming. However it may be slower than TCP/IP because of the extra overhead. Here are a few documents that discuss Datasocket.

Hi,

There are several Datasocket shipping examples that get installed when you install LabVIEW. You can go to the LabVIEW Example Finder and search for "datasocket" to access these examples. If you are looking for something specific and cannot find it, please let me know.

dear mam,

                    I am doing my M.Tech at Birla Institute of technology ,mesra,ranchi.my branch is ECE and my specialization is instumentation & control engg.presently i am doing my project work in labview 7.1 .our collge has purchased that software and a PCI-6014 DAQ card.I have to implement a applicaiton with this card.that can be my project work.here no guidance they can provide .i enquired that NI is offering training at banglore but it will cost around 60,000 Rs/- for basics I,and 30,000 Rs/- for the DAQ .but i cannot bear that much.i don't know who you are and what you are doing.but i want some information that ,is there any other institute or company which offers this labview 7.1 training or course or any project work.Presently i am haivng a offerletter of INFOSYS.eventhough i am very much intrested in learning Labview 7.1 and want to develop a good advanced application.can you suggest any institute of company.

                       Actually my idea is to implement a tracking system, in which a webcam is interfaced to Labview and it is connected to a stepper motor which is being controlled by  the PCI-6014 card .and webcam captures the image ,and my application will do edge detection and it will track the edges of the object in front of it and accordingly it will rotate the webcam which is connected to the steppermotor.

As for your question about using a  webcam and stepper motor with LabVIEW, the webcam should have some sort of interface like a dll or activeX interface with LabVIEW. The stepper motor would just take some voltage/current output depending on the results of the edge detection routine.

             thanks for your response.anyhow you didn't have tell where you are from and in which company you are doing now.if you are doing in banglore NI office why don't you recommend me some training courses.if any institutes are there at banglore or hydrabad then please sent me those details.

I work at National Instruments' corporate office in Austin, Texas (USA). FYI whenever you see a blue bar next to a person's name (as in my case) in NI Discussion Forums, it means that the person works with National Instruments.
