Using an External Timing Source for USB 6009

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to use an external timing source (e.g. a pulse generator) to create the "clock" for a timed loop? I'm trying to avoid software timing.....

James,

Using an external pulse generator for the clock on the USB-6009 is a little difficult because there is no hardware timed digital input or change detection.  You can control a timed loop externally with a DAQ device by using the analog input timing clock.  There is an example program on our website that can be found here:
http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=EDFBFDB844C96972E0340003BA7CCD71&p_node=201207&p_source=External

The USB-6009 does not support 'Hardware Timed Single Point' acquisition, so I modified the program and have attached it below.  This example uses the analog input clock to trigger the timed loop.  You can specify the loop rate through the scan rate control.  If the scan rate is set to 100 the loop will run 100 times a second.
