Hi Micky,
I'm not sure that the NI-USB 6009 is the best product for vibration testing. The USB product which is most commonly used specifically for sound and vibration is the NI USB-9233.
This is the URL for the USB-9233s product page: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/202110
Can you give a description of what vibration testing you want to do? Are there any specifications that must be met by the product?
Also could you let me know of any other constaints eg budget. These details will allow me to help suggest the most appropriate products for you specifically with the capability to carry out the task you are attempting.
Thanks

Hi Emma
The type of vibration testing would be of a small magnitude in all planes but primarily in the vertical plane.
I would be measuring vibration from pneumatic cylinders, I would like to set some kind of upper control limit for vibrator for different types of cylinders. If this limit was crossed when the pneumatic cylinder was actuated maybe a LED on the front panel would light up?
The Accelerometer would be attached to the shaft of the cylinder as it moved up and down in a verticle plane.
Thanks
Micky

Hi Micky,
Having consulted our sales department, giving them the information you have given in this forum they suspect that the USB-6009 may not be very suitable for the testing you described.
In order to better assess this it is advised that you get in touch with our sales department.
By speaking to them directly they will get a better understanding of your measurement specifications and can provide all the options and purchase advice you require.
