USB 6008 : "system standby failed"

Hello,

I am using a NI-USB 6008 for my application. This application is supposed to be running up to 2 years. After several minutes, if there is not any event on the front panel, I have a popup message :

System Standby Failed :
The device driver for the "USB 6008" device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.

I precise that the driver is NI DAQ mx, I installed it because it was delivered with the USB DAQ. But I guess it should be NI DAQ mx base ? What can I do to solve that problem ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Julien,

You are receiving this message because the 6008 is acquiring, and Windows has attempted to put the system into standby.  The 6008 refuses this request, since it can't acquire without power.  Windows doesn't like devices refusing its request, so it throws up a dialog to let you know about the situation.

Since you want to run for two years, you don't want Windows to put the device in standby.  Therefore, you should modify your power profile.  On Windows XP, this is in the control panel under "Power Options".  Choose the power scheme called "Always On"

Good Luck,

Jeff
