Software Installation problem

We installed LABVIEW 7.0 together with DAQ 7.0, everything goes ok. But, when I installed DAQ 7.2, a problem occurs when the run-time engin 7.1 was installed. I continue installation. After installation, I found both the run-time engin 7.0 and 7.1 occur in the system, and the previously installed 7.0 version can not be uninstalled.

I can run LABVIEW and MAX, seems no problem.

My question is, can the DAQ 7.2 be used with LABVIEW 7.0? Is it preferred for using DAQ 7.0 for labview 7.0?

Hello,

Of course,you can use LabVIEW 7.0 with NI-DAQ 7.2.
But, before installing NI-DAQ version 7.2, you have to uninstall version 7.0 of NI-DAQ. In general, you have to uninstall previous version of any NI driver before intalling the neawest one.

I dont understand why you get 2 run-time Engine. Anyway, you can get several versions of LabVIEW on the same machine but you cant get several version of any drivers on the same machine.

According to the installation guide, the later installed version will automatically replace the previous version, so I did not uninstall old version before my installation.

Now both 7.0 and 7.1 version of run-time engin do occur in my system, and the problem is I can not uninstall run-time engin 7.1 (error code 1722). Even though I uninstall all NI products in my system, this 7.1 version of run-time engin still stay there. As long as I uninstall it, error 1722 always occur during the process.

You absolutely can use NI-DAQ 7.2 with LabVIEW 7.0. Also, when you install NI-DAQ 7.2, it does automatically install the LabVIEW 7.1 Run Time engine. This is because some of the features used in NI-DAQ 7.2 use this run time engine. It does not affect how LabVIEW 7.0 will operate. If you try to uninstall the LabVIEW 7.1 Run Time engine while other components are installed, it will give you an error because some of those components rely on this, as I mentioned earlier. However, if you want to clean your system, you should be able to remove it. Below is a link that describes how to uninstall the run time engine if you do receive the error you mentioned.
