accelerometer data acquisition

I have written out and tested DAQ program for capture of accelerometer data. My program requires that the user manual move the cursor to determine when the first peak occurred. I know there must be a way to program this so that labview actually determines the first peak of the sound of the start horn and then the swimmers first movement (accelerometer) and then determines the time difference. Can anyone help?

Thank you for contacting National Instruments.

One way to detect peaks is with the Waveform Peak Detection.vi. This VI finds the locations, amplitudes, and second derivatives of peaks and valleys for the input waveform signal. You can find this VI in the Analyze>>Waveform Monitoring Palette in LabVIEW, though it is not available in the Base Package of LabVIEW.

The output of interest will be the indices of the peaks found. Once you have the indices of the peaks, you can convert to time, by multiplying by your waveform dt value.
