Rafo-

LabVIEW 8.0 does not "officially" support Windows Vista, and none of the drivers that shipped with LabVIEW 8.0 support Windows Vista.  It sounds like you may have installed the NI Driver CD along with your LabVIEW installation.  Before installing your Vista-compatible version of NI-DAQmx, you will need to remove any device drivers that you have installed that are not compatible with Windows Vista; this KB entry may help.  Ideally you should upgrade your version of LabVIEW to a version that supports Windows Vista- the currently-shipping version of LabVIEW is LabVIEW 8.5, and all software and drivers included with that distribution are compatible with Windows Vista.

Please do not post the same question in multiple threads- a single new thread (or a continuation of this thread) should suffice for any other problems you run into.

Hopefully this helps-

Tom,

I was trying to desinstall labview from my computer and this message appear:

error 1922: Service 'Lookout Citadel server' (LkCitadelServer) could not be delated. Verify that you have sufficient priviligies to remove system services.
error 1603 ocurred: Would you like to continue?

What should I do? because it seems to be impossible to run vistacleanuptool.exe without desintalling the whole components of labview!.

Regards,

Hi Rafo-

You may need to invoke the LabVIEW uninstaller with administrator-level access- I don't have my Vista machine fired up now, but I recall a right-click option to "Run as Administrator..." or something similar.  If that fails, it may quicker/easier to just reinstall Vista from scratch and only install Vista-compatible software (including a supported version of NI LabVIEW and all NI drivers).

Thanks-

Hi,

I faced with the same problem, either. I am trying to install NI488.2 2.5 for GPIB-USB hardware on a vista computer. The installer gives error massage below.

Unsupported version of National Instruments system component detected

A version of a National Instruments system component that is not supported on this operating system has been detected. You must cancel this installation and uninstall all unsupported National Instruments software before continuing. Refer to ni.com/vista for more information.

I uninstalled all NI related programs, and run vista clean up tool. I still get the same error. I even deleted all NI related registry components. Still nothing.

Please help.

regards

Serkan

My customer is reporting the same problem as Serkanbut posted 05-14-2008.

Unsupported version of National Instruments system component detected

A version of a National Instruments system component that is not supported on this operating system has been detected. You must cancel this installation and uninstall all unsupported National Instruments software before continuing. Refer to ni.com/vista for more information

He has Vista (Korean) and is trying to install my software distribution which installs my executables built with LabVIEW 8.5, LabVIEW run time engine 8.5.1, NI-DAQmx 8.8 and traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4

I have successfully installed my software distribution on Vista. I can get the above error by installing unsupported NI software, but the error goes away when I uninstall it.

My customer formatted the hard drive before installing Vista and did not install any NI software before this.

He has checked Control Panel > Programs and found no NI software. He has run the VistaCleanupTool. He still gets the error.

The link suggested to Serkanbut as the answer leads to a thread on a different subject. I cannot find any more help on the knowledge base or discussion forums. All I can think of now is to ask "What actual files or registry entries are checked to cause this message to appear?".
