NI-DAQmx install problem.

I cannot see the NI-DAQmx in the MAX Device & Interfaces window. The DAQ is listed in the USB devices as Dev1. I mistakenly did the software install with the USB attached to the PC. Every time the PC boots, Windows XP shows a box that a new hardware USB device was found. The Windows XP device manager has a question mark by the "Other devices" and also a "? USB Device" listed. FYI  - I am also running LabWindows 7.1. Any help would be appreciated to get Windows XP and MAX to identify the DAQ USB properly.

Thanks,
David

Hello David,

There are a few things that could be the problem here.  If you are using a USB-6501, 6008, or 6009 you need to be sure to use NI-DAQmx 7.5 or later, because this is the first version of NI-DAQmx that supported these devices.

Another thing to check is that the correct firmware is installed on your device (if it is a 6501, 6008, or 6009).  If the device is used with NI-DAQmx Base, you can follow the instructions in this knowledgebase article to make it compatible with NI-DAQmx.

If neither of these things resolves the issue, then you might try reinstalling NI-DAQmx, while the device is disconnected from the computer.  You can download the latest version of NI-DAQmx here

Please let us know the result.

Regards,
Laura

Laura,

Thanks for your help. In order to fix the problem I had to rollback the XP pc settings and registry, then uninstall the DAQmx driver, then reinstall the DAQmx driver. Now everything works ok.

Thanks,
David
