Hi,
I have bought NI-9174 chassis 6 months ago, does it require calibration on yearly basis?

cDAQ chassis does not need to be calibrated.

Just curious, why NI DAQs don't require calibration? I'm sure those DAQ board's component might experience a deviation over a period. Anyone, have you experienced any such issues (~delta) while comparing DAQ output vs other instruments results?

It may be the case that the accuracy specs are wide enough to accommodate the component variation over time.

I came across this discussion while searching for information on the necessity to follow the NI calibration procedure for cDAQ Chassis and Controllers (cDAQ-917x).
The accepted response seems reasonable if the time base referenced (and verified) by the procedure is not used in any chassis involved applications.
However, it is not clear to me whether the chassis time base is only relevant when directly referencing chassis resources such as its counter/timers or if the time base is always being used.
Does anyone have any insight into what functions the cDAQ-917x chassis time base serves and whether the aforementioned NI calibration procedure may be considered 'optional'?
