Optics in Motion Fast Steering Mirror (FSM)

I am wondering if anyone has purchased a mirror from OIM, namely the OIM101 voice-coil 1" mirror.  I am using LV8 to control the mirror using signals from a position sensitive detector (PSD).  The problem I am having is cross-talk between the two axis.  A sine wave given to one axis will influence the other axis significantly more than the spec of 1%.  It seems as if the internal PID feedback control system inside the mirror is having problems keeping the non-steered axis flat.  Has anyone else experienced this, perhaps even with another type of steering mirror?

Thanks,
lcarlson

Icarlson,

what's the interface between your mirror and the PC? Do you use analog outputs? Is there a chance that the crosstalk is caused by the wiring?

Best regards,

The interface was initially analog outputs from my DAQ card, but then I took a step back and used a signal generator to produce the sine wave, with the same results.  I will look into the wiring and see if there are any connections touching, etc.

thanks,

I took a look at the company's web site, all I can guess is that the axes of the PSD are not aligned true to the axis of the mirror actuators.

Have you contacted the compandy directly regarding this?

The axis are lined up orthogonal to each other and with the table and sensor.  The cross correlation between the axis is not linear, but rather sporatic.  A sweep in the horizontal axis yields a bumpy line when imaged visually on the wall.  Yes, I am conversing with the company - they feel that perhaps the internal PSD may be dirty and therefore convoluting the feedback control.  We are working on that now.
