Connect Encoder through RJ50 NI9949

Hi NI community,

I have a Hengstler Encoder for rpm measurements. I'm trying to connect this encoder to NI9237 DAQ using NI 9949 unit. The encoder has four signal wires (Ch.A: white; Ch.B: green; Ch.N: yellow & Alarm: black and yellow).

Considering that RJ50 cables have (SC, AI+-, EX+-, RS+-, T+-), I am a bit lost between their relations.

How are these channels related, since their labelling are quite different?

Thanks for any help.

Hi DNlboro,

I would like to understand why you are connecting an encoder to the NI 9237, which is designed for analogue strain measurements.

Here is a guide that can help you to set up the right hardware to acquire digital encoder measurements:

Let me know if this helps!
