I am trying to use a JAI CV-M4 CL camera with the NI PCI-1428 frame grabber. Ny acquisition needs to use a hardware trigger.
While there is a configuration file for the CV-M4 CL on the NI FTP site at ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/imaq/camera_support/camera_files/digital/JAI/, as the name of the camera file implies, this camera file does not support the serial commands.
While this is not a show-stopper problem, I have run into an addtional problem that is: I can't seem to trigger the camera through the 1428. When the 1428 comes up after a boot, the card is DRIVING 4.5V on the trigger lines. I can't seem to configure the trigger lines in software to accept a trigger. I assume this too is due to a setting in the camera file.
I f
ound a reference to this problem on the NI NNTP newsgroups in the message ID 50650000000500000079AB0000-1031838699000@exchange.ni.com from Brent R, and apps engineer with NI. In this message he states "From what I can tell, this particular camera file does not support [triggering through the frame grabber]".
Is this true?
I don't understand how the JAI CV-M4 CL camera can possibly be considered 'compatible' with the NI PCI-1428 if so much functionality is unavailable.
I have also found references on the NI NNTP groups that NI is "working" on adding features to the JAI CV-M4 CL camera file.
Is this true? Are there any plans to support triggering of the JAI CV-M4 CL through the frame grabber? If so, is there an estimation on when the updated camera file will be available?
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
