Reading Whitespace using OCR

Message contains an attachment

I am trying to read ASCII characters which also includes a blank space or Whitespace.

The character bounding rectangle is variable, meaning the character spacing is not fixed!

Any suggestions?

Check the spacing between the characters.  You should be able to get the bounding box for each character.  Subtracting the right edge of the first character from the left edge of the next character should give you the character spacing.

Normally, the character spacing will be significantly less than the width of the characters.  When it goes up significantly, that would be white space.
