Viewing mist vapour

Hello,

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this sort of question.

I am intrested in looking at vapour particles in mist generatred by piezo crystal which vibrating a metal plate with some water on top of it.

But I am difficultity lighting the mist so that the camera that I am using it picks sees it.

I am using this camera http://www.avsupply.com/details/cvm532.shtml and a PCI-1405 framegraber PCI board.

What steps could I take to successfully light it?

Many thanks,

Jack

You might try the Schlieren technique to image the water vapor, see http://forums.ni.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/200/message-id/23112 for an explanation.

I would consider coloring the water so it is not completely transparent.  I would suspect side lighting (dark field illumination) would likely work well with a dark background.
