PCMCIA Frame grabbers?

Has anyone used a PCMCIA frame grabber with CVI and IMAQ? I have a PCI-1409 and would like to use a comparable PCMCIA unit. All I require is a 30 frame/second capture rate. I can only find a unit that boasts 3 frames/second at 640x480 res. Any thoughts or experiences?
Thanks in advance,
BLUE

Hi Blue,

National Instruments currently does not offer any PCMCIA frame grabbers. Our current solution for PCMCIA is IMAQ IEEE-1394. You can use a cardbus firewire card to interface to firewire cameras. There a few firewire cameras that will support 30fps at 640x480, there are also some with color as well.

More information can be found http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/afded7f599e8a73a8625689e007672e5?OpenDocument

Prior to NI-IMAQ for IEEE-1394, Graftek Imaging had been using the MRT VideoPort Professional PCMCIA card in combination with its ImageMill LabVIEW/IMAQ driver to satisfy requirements for portable, analog image acquisition. However, the Videoport is not able to achieve 30 fps at 640x480 resolution, and MRT Micro has not been in the position to ship product as of late. The NI-IMAQ for IEEE-1394 is the best option. If you would like to discuss the cameras available for use with NI's new interface, I can be reached at 800-441-2118.

Hi KENZO05,

Thanks for using our discussion forums. The best way for you to acquire images using a laptop for LabVIEW and Vision would be to use a PCMCIA FireWire card with our IMAQ for 1394 driver. You can find more information about it here:

Hopefully this helps you out. If you need any pricing information, please give us a call!

Hi

I would check out the PCMCIA frame grabbers from Imperx. They have LabVIEW drivers and are capable of taking in an analogue signal.

Hope that helps

I Thank you very much,
i'll try to get some informations about Imperx frame grabber cause i don't have to use a FireWire cam but an analog source from an ultrasound scanner.
