CVS images brighter in executable then source code?

I am using a CVS1454 with 2 AVT F146B cameras connected. When I run the source code from the LabVIEW RT on my PC the images look normal. But when I build and deploy the code and run the executable (startup.rtexe) on the CVS the images are brighter.

When grabbing images using MAX the images look normal as well.

I don't see any difference between running the source code remotely or running the executable. The images are processed the same way.

Why are the images from the executable brighter?

Hi Stefan,

First of all, which version of IMAQ driver do you employ? because there is a new version that was released  this week. Maybe if you don't use the last one, you can try to download it and install it on our web site.

But with some AVT Cameras you can experiment some gamma correction problem with CVS modules.
"It seems there is a problem with the interaction between the NI driver and how AVT implements the gamma setting. When you first plug in a camera, the camera reports that the gamma feature supports ON/OFF mode and is currently OFF. The NI Driver mistakenly interprets the current value and instead sets the camera attribute to ON with a value of 0. ON with a value of 0 is very different from OFF. So the LUT is calculated differently and as a result image brightness may vary between acquistions. To fix this, you should turn the gamma feature off. This is easily done by going into a MAX, selecting the gamma camera attribute, selecting the OFF mode and saving the camera file. There should be no problems after this. However, the driver should have created the inital camera file correctly with the gamma feature disabled. Normaly it should fix it."

Let me know if this gives you an answer to your problem.

Hi Julien,

I was finally able to test this yesterday at the customers site;

Your solution works fine.

Thanks for the valuable information.

The solution was to set the GAMMA correction OFF in the MAX. After that the images have the same brightness in the source code and the executable.

Thanks.
