How to put an image as panel background?

I know that I can use an image as panel background creating a Picture control sized as the panel, and loading the image in it (statically or dinamically).

But is it possible to obtain the same effect without the Picture control in CVI 6.0?

In LabVIEW, for example, I can simply paste an image on the front panel ....

What's the problem with simply using a Picture or a Canvas control, sized to the panel? It's pretty easy to code.
