visa open problem

Can you tell me what are all the things I need to do if I want to control  NRT power meter(Interface : GPIB,PC to the instrument connectivity: GPIB/USB converter) like installation etc.I'm using VISA functions to control it.

Is it the R&S NRT? If so, there's a driver. It's not supported and I have not used it (or the instrument). See the Instrument Driver Network for help on what a driver is and how to use one.

ok.Now Ive connected 8656B signal generator.In agilent IO connection expert under USB/GPIB0 the instrument address is showing up with x mark before it saying there was a communication failure.what is it?
