unwanted, reoccurring automatic recovery

I had gone through this about 4 times.

When I turn on my PC and start Labview 8.2, I get a message that notifies me that, I can recover the last version of a VI, I was working on. When I compare the backup version and the present version of the VI, there is no difference between them.

No matter what I do, cancel or recover or whatever, the next time I turn on my computer and start LV 8.2, I get the same notification.

This not really a problem, but an unnecessary nuisance.

Are there any solutions to this?

Hi magyar,

Does this happen every time you restart LabVIEW 8.2 with any VI? Also, does this behaviour reproduce itself if you open LabVIEW, immediately close it, then open it again? It seems like repairing LabVIEW would be the quickest fix, but I'd like more information about what causes this before we repair.

Thank you for the response.

This had occurred such that it wanted to restore the same VI every time I had turned on my computer in the morning.

I had eliminated this nuisance by deleting the VI that wanted to be restored all the time.

Drastic solution, but it works.

Hi magyar,

Glad to hear you found a solution to your problem. Would it be possible for you to post the problem VI to see if I can reproduce the problem at my end? If so, we can create a CAR to get the problem fixed in a future version of LabVIEW.

OK, here is the problem VI.
It is a subVI and might not run right by itself.
The complete source code is about 19MB.
I hope this helps.

Riconquistiamola,

Yesterday I restored that particular VI and sent it to you.

This morning I got the same old unwanted reoccurring automatic recovery window as before. This proves that, this particular VI is the cause of it. Now I am going to delete this VI for good.

Thank you for your time and interest.

Hey magyar,

I didn't get the error you were experiencing, but because copying to a new VI solved the problem I think we can consider the problem solved. Please let us know if this issue comes up again, though!

Here we go again....

This time I think, I know how I created the problem.

I forced a power off on the PC by holding the power button down for 5 sec while I was still in LabVIEW.

After that, next time LV wants to revover some files. Even when I choose "discard", next time wants to recover again. And again , and again, every time power up the PC and start LV.

Hi magyar,

I tried forcing the power off as you described while LabVIEW was still open and was unable to reproduce your results. Something may have corrupted LabVIEW. If you have time it would be worthwhile to repair your LabVIEW version to see if this fixes the problem.

Does anybody have a conclusive fix?

I tried rebuilding my LV 8.2 but no solution...
EDIT:
Then turned off automatic recovery, no popup this time
Then turned it on and no pop-up, don't know how long this stays OK..
