simple error handler dialog box

I am using the simple error handler to determine if a process should stop running (if there is an error) or continue (if there is no error) but I the pop up dialog box prevents the process to continue until the continue button has been pressed.  The context help indicates that the dialog box is optional but I don't see where to change this.  I also tried unchecking tools/options/block diagram/enable automatic error handling dialogs and this didn't work either.
