Hi Chris,

I think you're talking of a mobile phone (das "Englisch-Deutsche" Wort
'Handy' ist nämlich im internationalen Sprachgebrauch weniger üblich... ;-),
and yes - we're sending SMS messages from within our LabVIEW app using
Langner's LUCA ActiveX components.
It works very well, you should have a look at http://www.langner.com/ for
further info.

Most carriers have e-mail equivilant SMS addressing.  For example, Sprint is <phonenumber>@messaging.sprintpcs.com.  A quick Google search found this: SMS 411: How to send email to a phone  I'm not sure off hand of LabView has e-mail VI's but it's something I've done in the past (but not in LV).
