problem running a vi using invoke node

I am trying to run the Function Generator example VI using an invoke node. I get an error code 1000 with a comment that "The VI is not in a state compatible with this operation". What could cause this?

This happens for example if the function generator VI is already running.

Stop the function generator and try again.

Actually I forgot to mention I have an open VI reference (to reference Function Generator.vi), folowed by a property node. I have the "fp.open" property selected. I get no error from the property node, but the front panel does not open. Function Generator is not only not running, but it is not open.

I got it to work. I am using LV 7.1 so I took a screenshot of the diagram.

Thanks, somehow I got this to work with another program (I'm using LV 6.02). I did just what your diagram shows, except I left the FP.Open property as a read. Don't understand why it worked there, but when I changed the property node to write in my current program, all is good. Thanks for your help.

Hello, i also have had a problem with the invoke node...in the spanish forum they haven't solved me. I hope you could 😉 hehe. I only have problem with the call to the second vi (the one on the right). I don't know what could happen, because i do the same call as the other one on the left (with this i don't have any problem). I have made sure that the called vi is not running. So i don't know what's the problem, sometimes it shows me error 1000 (vi is not in a compatible state), but not always....sometimes it works good...and i repeat, this vis is not running before the call...

Thanks in advance!!

Do either of the two dynamically run VI's use the other VI? (can you open the FP of both and run them at the same time?)

OK, they're actually reading from a power meter, but first one and after 45 seconds the other one.....i think it couldnt be a problem.....or not?

If you exited Labview, or just started your PC.

The first time you run this VI, will it work?  If you try it again, will it fail?

Also, from your image, it looks like you want both to start at approximately the same time.  The top or bottom one can be the first to start.  Do they need to be synchronized or ordered (ie top one always first)?
