multiple wire labels

Solved!

I find the wire label function very useful. Can I have duplicates along the length of

a long wire or is the limit one.

There are several ideas related to wire labels on the Idea Exchange.  One is Wire Label Centering and General Position that is somewhat similar to what you would like.

Actually the fact that wires have labels at all can be attributed to Falkpl's idea Add label to wires and the hundreds of people who gave it a Kudo's to vote it up.

Search the Ideas exchange for "wire labels" and "wire label" and review them.  What you are suggesting of being able to attach multiple copies of the label may have already been proposed.  If not, add a comment to the most relevant idea, or propose it yourself as a new idea.  You never know, it may also be incorporated into LabVIEW at a future date.

Though be prepared for some comments saying it isn't necessary.  One argument that can be made is that if a wire is so long that you need to have multiple labes to figure out what it is, then perhaps your VI is too big (in general, the style guide suggests any VI's block diagram should not take up more than a screen) and should be modularized in a way that would make it easier to read.

However, in the mean time, if you hover over a wire with a label, you'll see the label in a tip strip.  Also, it will show up in the context help window if you have that open.

Slight correction (or maybe more of a clarification). You can have multiple labels on a wire between nodes. So at least in state machines  you can have a label on each side.

What I'd like to see is also between wire "splits" because often I split a wire to be passed into multiple threads, especially on RT. I believe I left this as a comment on someone's idea, but which one I can't remember. I will say I expect vast improvements to be made to wire labeling in future LabVIEW releases. So hang in there!

@ for(imstuck): did you post the multiple label for split/branched wire suggestion?
