major error with event structure

Im running LABVIEW 13.0 PRO

I dont know when this bug strarted happening, but now when I add a case to an event structure. Labview freezes. I have to close labview with task manager.

It doesnt matter what code im working with, even a brand new VI, with nothing but an event structure.

I have tried this on my Desktop PC, My Laptop, and my DAQ CPU.

The error occurs on my Desktop and my laptop. But it does not occur on my DAQ CPU.

Whenever I click on add event case, usualy you get a popup to configure and add cases, but with the error the popup never comes up and labview locks up.

Theres no code to share, the problem ocured while adding events to an event structure. It occured with any event structure, in any code, all of the time.

I talked to a labview apllication engineer and he suggested deleting the labview.ini file located in labview install directory. I did this and the problem was solved.

Still not sure what caused this to happen.

I'm not seeing this.  Everything works fine for me.  What add-ons and/or tool kits do you have installed on both machines that have the problem but not on the DAQ CPU?

All three were installed with same labview version: 13.0f2 (32bit), and all were updated. I am not sure how the labview.ini file got corrupted, but once it was deleted all problems were solved. The labview engineer could not explain the issue and could not find documented history of this issue for anyone else.

Your reply about deleting the labview.ini file showed up while I was replying.  At least you got it solved.  I'll note this incase I ever have a problem that just all of a sudden starts happening.

I wonder if that INI file is still in the recycling bin. It sure would be interesting to see what's in it. 😉

I think in support should always suggest to make a backup copy to forensic analysis. How else are the going to identify the bug and fix it??

Do check the recycle bin and upload the file if possible.

(If I recall, the config reader will stop at the first bad line and return a default for the expected datatype so a bad match in UDCInstallID="xxxx" might do something really funny)
