ds writer example problem

Whenever I run the "DS writer.vi" example VI, I get an error pop-up stating "Cwdss has caused and error in MFC42.DLL" Cwdss will now close." I am running Windows ME and LabVIEW7. Has anyone else experienced this?

This doesn't really answer your question, but I would recommend ditching Windows ME, if you can afford to do so. It is an orphaned product, which is full of problems and was simply a money grab by MS before they could release Windows XP.

Good luck,

Any answers from users who have actually run this?

I have used the DS Writer many times on various windows machines with no problems. Can you even launch the datasocket server? I am wondering if it is the server or the VI.

If the server works, however the VI generates errors I would suggest making a simple data socket example of your own to see if it works.

If the server won't even launch I would suggest a repair or a re-install of LabVIEW, therefore re-installing Datasocket.

I have used it on NT, 2000, and XP sucessfully. I uninstalled everything and re-installed LabVIEW. The server starts ok until you try to use it. I also try to read web pages with the datasocket read and I get nothing. Have you run it sucessfully on ME? I am mainly interested in reading web data from datascoket. I can do it other ways, of course. But I was just wandering if there is a flaw in ME that does not allow it. Thanks for your input.

I have encountered the same problem running Labview 7 on Win98SE and on ME. The error can be cleared by rebooting the DataSocket server but I have not yet gotten around the manual intervention required to kill the "Cwdss will now close" popup. I am about to try XP home and Pro to see if that helps.
